Welcome to The Creek

The Creek is a self-catering accommodation establishement, which is located about 5km just outside of Port St. Johns on the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape. Run and managed by the Haestier family, The Creek is the perfect destination for an affordable and peaceful holiday surrounded by nature. We are on the border of Mount Thesiger Forest Reserve, and opposite the great Umzimbuvu River, which means "Place of the Hippo".

Despite the absense of hippos today, Port St. Johns and The Creek is still an ideal getaway for nature lovers and bird watchers alike. The Creek is home to many wild birds, monkeys and a baboon or two. At the small dam, you may see Egyptian Geese or Herons nesting in the surrounding old pine trees. There are a myriad of small birds, and birds of prey including owls and hawks. In the early mornings, and evenings, you can hear the distinctive call of the fish eagles - a thrill to anyone wild at heart. The Creek owners love all creatures great & small, which means you will be warmly welcomed by their friendly dogs, chickens and ducks upon your arrival. (Meet the resident pets here)

As you turn off the main road at our rustic wooden sign (pictured above), you can feel yourself unwinding as you follow the road through lush green trees over the creek, and into your holiday sanctuary. There are many safe places to park, with small cottages that surround a lapa area for you to braai, while the kids run around and enjoy the big garden to play and swing to their hearts content.

The accommodation varies with some cottages that will suit a couple, and others that cater for bigger groups of family and friends. All cottages are equipped for complete self-catering with fully furnished kitchens. Towels are provided, cottages are serviced daily and laundry can be done on the premises. (View our accommodation options here).
